25% of Sri Lankan population will become elderly by the year 2025

According to Dr. Rajitha Senarathne, Hon, Minister of Health, 25% of the population of Sri Lankan will become elderly by the year 2025. He further stated that, if these precious lives bec ome subjected to cerebral palsy and bone disease, the percentage of disabled persons will inevitably increase.

The Minister made these comments at the commemorative ceremony held at the Rheumatology and Rehabilitation Hospital, Ragama in relation to the World Disability Day, which fell on the 3rd of December. The Rheumatology and Rehabilitation Hospital, Ragama is the only dedicated hospital in Sri Lanka for rehabilitation of patients with disabilities due to loss of limbs and spinal injuries.
